CAMBAY Women Scholarship

CAMBAY WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP

Standing With Students From Pre-School All the Way to PhD

Education changes the direction of a life, and often of an entire family. But the hardest moments in a student’s journey are rarely the ordinary school days — they are the transitions. The first day of pre-school. The move from primary into secondary school. The leap into college or university. The decision to pursue a master’s degree or a doctorate. Every one of those steps arrives with new fees, new expectations, and new uncertainty, and it is at exactly those moments that promising students are most likely to fall away.

The CAMBAY Women Scholarship was created to meet students in those moments. We provide scholarships and support to students from pre-school all the way to the PhD level as they transition from one stage of their education to the next — so that a change in level never becomes the reason a student stops learning.

Our awards are funded by the generosity of our members, our community, and our partners. The number and size of awards vary from year to year based on the funds we raise, and every dollar donated to CAMBAY Women helps us reach one more student.

One Scholarship Program, Every Stage of the Journey

Early Years

Pre-School & Primary

Learning begins long before the first report card. We help families cover registration and enrollment fees, uniforms, shoes, books, and basic school supplies so that a child’s first classroom experience starts on time and with everything they need to belong.

Secondary

Middle & High School

These are the years when a student decides what is possible for them. We support tuition and examination fees, learning materials, tutoring, and mentorship — and we help students and parents plan early for college so the next transition is not a surprise.

Undergraduate

College & University

The step into higher education carries the heaviest costs. Our awards help with tuition, textbooks, technology, transportation, and the application, testing, and enrollment fees that too often stand between an accepted student and their first semester.

Graduate

Master’s & PhD

Advanced study is rarely fully funded, and graduate students are often supporting families of their own. We assist with research and program costs, conference travel, thesis and dissertation expenses, and the professional network that helps scholars finish what they started.

Scholarships, Plus the Support That Makes Them Count

A financial award opens the door. What we build around it is what carries a student through. Every CAMBAY Women scholarship recipient also receives:

  • Mentorship from women in our network who have walked the same path, in Cameroon and abroad.
  • Application and essay guidance for schools, programs, and other scholarship opportunities.
  • Referrals to partner scholarships, so one application to us can lead to several opportunities.
  • Recognition in our community, because students thrive when their effort is seen and celebrated.
  • A network that stays — recipients are welcome to reapply as they advance to the next level.
Who Can Apply

Eligibility & How to Apply

Who We Support

The CAMBAY Women Scholarship is open to students of the Cameroonian community and their friends who are enrolled in, or preparing to enroll in, any level of education — pre-school through doctoral study. We give particular attention to students who are moving from one level to the next, where the need is greatest.

  • A demonstrated commitment to education and to finishing what you begin.
  • Service to your community and a positive attitude toward others.
  • A genuine financial need at the point of transition to the next level.
  • For younger students, an application submitted by a parent or guardian.

How to Apply

We announce each scholarship cycle to our members and across our community. Applications typically ask for a short personal statement, proof of enrollment or acceptance, and a recommendation from someone outside your family.

  • Watch our Events page and our Facebook and Instagram pages for the announcement of the current cycle.
  • Gather your enrollment or acceptance documents and your recommendation letter.
  • Submit your application and personal statement before the posted deadline.
  • Questions? Contact us or email cambaywomen@gmail.com.

Looking for additional opportunities? We also promote awards offered by partner organizations — see Scholarship Partnerships.

Help Us Send a Student to the Next Level

Every award we make is funded by people who believe a child’s education should not stop at a fee they cannot pay. Your gift moves a student from one level to the next — and keeps them moving.
